Born from Brotherhood, Built for Impact

The Network of Black Male Nurse Leaders (NBMNL) was born from a simple yet powerful conversation in Wilson, North Carolina, in 2023. Over lunch, a group of Black male nurse leaders reflected on the persistent underrepresentation of Black men in nursing—less than 1% of nurse leaders nationwide—and resolved to take action.

What began as an idea to connect professionals across the country has evolved into a national movement dedicated to mentorship, leadership development, and systemic change within healthcare.

“We envisioned a network where Black male nurses could see themselves reflected, supported, and inspired to lead.”
